Lock media at a chosen level
- Open Volume Lock and follow its device-specific permission and background-operation prompts.
- Find Media, Music on the main screen. Expand the card if its mode controls are hidden.
- Move the volume slider to the level you want. Start with the channel used for your music or video.
- Select Locked. Use the closed-padlock button or the Locked option, depending on your control style.
- Play music or a video and press a volume button. Check the selected channel's level. While protection is active, unwanted changes should be corrected to the configured level.
- Repeat the test after leaving the app. If it works only with the app open, check its Background operation guidance.
What happens to the physical buttons?
Volume Lock controls supported Android audio-channel levels. It does not physically disable or remap the buttons. The Android volume overlay may still appear, and another channel can still change if you have not configured it.
If you want to keep normal adjustment within a limit, choose Range rather than one fixed level. Follow how to set a maximum volume on Android for the two-handle setup. Choose Open to stop locking that channel.
Keep limits in your saved profiles
If you use profiles, edit the profile's Volume Settings, then save the profile. Main-screen changes to a non-Main profile are temporary and do not replace its saved starting settings. Changes made to Main are saved for Main.
If protection stops or a channel behaves differently
- Check that protection is active and the selected channel is in the intended mode.
- Follow Settings → Background operation in the app. Android battery restrictions can interrupt background protection.
- Check the audio channel that is actually changing. Devices can link some channels; use the app's calibration and channel settings when needed.
- For Ring, review Sound, Vibrate, Silent and Do Not Disturb behavior. These settings can affect when a ring-volume lock applies.
Repeat your test with the apps and connected audio devices you use. Results can vary by manufacturer, Android version, permissions and background restrictions. See the background-operation guidance or contact support if the problem continues.
Protect the app's settings on shared devices
Use parental controls with a PIN, and biometric unlock on supported devices, when other people use the phone or tablet. This protects Volume Lock settings; check the shared-family-device features and FAQ before relying on a particular setup.
